A message from Chief Drew Calvo: I wanted to bring to your attention that from Friday July 2nd - July 5th combined efforts of Stations 27, 28, 29, 44, 45, 53 & 69, numerous water rescues were made |
| By Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company - NJ | |
| July 7, 2026 | |
| During 4 separate incidents (all listed below) a total of 22 people were successfully rescued and brought to shore without any injuries. Most of these responses were performed during severe weather conditions or during complete darkness in very shallow waters. During these incidents companies worked together seemlessly during some very difficult conditions without incident. This is another great example of how important training and close coordination among companies pays off tremendously when it is really needed. 7.2.26 Incident - 5 people rescued from a boat ran aground Additionally, several of these calls were occurring during a very heavy call volume and our dispatchers provided us with updated information and ensured that we had everything we needed to handle these operations. I am very proud to be able to work along side all of these talented individuals who really stepped up during some very challenging weather conditions and call volumes during a holiday weekend. Proudly submitted, Drew Calvo |
