On January 11, firefighters from Station 27 joined forces with members of the Seaside Park Station 45 Volunteer Fire Company, Lavallette Fire Department, and Seaside Heights Fire Department for an intensive Ice Rescue training session. The training provided an invaluable opportunity for crews to sharpen their skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for cold-water emergencies.
Throughout the day, firefighters practiced critical rescue techniques, including self-rescue, victim retrieval, and the use of specialized ice rescue equipment. This type of training is essential for responding to incidents involving individuals or animals who may fall through ice-covered bodies of water.
“This kind of collaborative training strengthens not only our technical skills but also the teamwork and coordination between departments,” said Fire Chief. “When emergencies happen, we need to be ready to work together seamlessly.”
The training served as a reminder of the dangers of frozen waterways and the importance of safety precautions. Residents are urged to avoid venturing onto ice unless it has been officially deemed safe. If someone falls through, call 911 immediately and avoid attempting a rescue without proper equipment. |
